Said I wouldn't do it, but I'm doing it anyway, lol!
Have enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing time driving down the coast yesterday and most of today.
Had a bit of fog the latter part of today which obscured the surf somewhat and put a damp chill
on everything. Been able to go on several walks with my dog while watching the waves pound
ashore which is great. Booked a motel in Crescent City California this evening and then after going
out for dinner, had a frustrating time finding the place again because of their divided one way streets.
Redwoods tomorrow and Rafael bird sanctuary the next before heading to Mesa.

After a couple of hours in northern Washington, I switched to wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
Haven't seen anything spectacular or something I haven't seen on previous trips, so no pictures.
Have seen several herds of elk in their regular spots, but like usual, there's really no place to pull
over to take pictures...no bulls sporting their head gear anyway. One thing I never considered is
that most pet friendly motels have a weight limit., usually 25 pounds, not 115 pounds. As it's their
slow time, and after meeting 'the boy', both motel's staff so far have waived their restriction, especially
when they see I have a portable kennel and large quilted blanket for him to stay on.

Enjoy your trip. You need time off with your buddy. If you are looking for warm sunshine don't come through our midwest. We had -21 F last night with wind chilies at -40. No shorts and tee shirts here. Been a long time sense I spent time around Measa. The amount of people there has doubled sense I was there.

Well after spending most of the afternoon going around in circles in the inland hills and valleys
because my truck gps was playing games with me, I finally had to give up and used my phone to
get to my booked lodging which turned out not to be in the town I put the reservation into.
Saw some great country though. Ended up in Rohnert Park by hwy 101 rather than on the coast
in Bodego Bay. Won't be heading back to the coast to view the birds. Just have to find a way to
hwy 5 without getting trapped in heavy traffic (lots of luck with that). Will then head east on hwy 58
through Bakersfield and over to Laughlin before heading south again.

Was in a restaurant last evening and a middle aged woman came in with a “comfort dog “ which sat in her lap as she ate her meal. I said to my server that I should be able to bring in my dog as well because he was comforting to me. I call discrimination! Apparently my 115 lb dog can’t enjoy the same privileges that yappy fur mop does. I’m sure there would be a lot of laughs and comments if my dog was to try and sit on my lap as I had dinner.

Many places you just tell them you have a comfort what ever and you are OK. Others you have to have a Drs note and paper work showing the animal has training. Enjoy your trip. Never trusted GPS. Always carried a compuss.
