For the first interesting traditional bow fact of the day:

A #50 modern reflex style longbow(no carbon or foam in limbs) is roughly 10fps faster than a Native American #50 reflex sinew backed longbow shooting the same arrow weight. Meaning in 1000years typical traditional design has only gained 10fps in traditional style bows. Like I said though not including carbon and foam cores. The Native American bows normally do however have more hand shock but that's because the bows averaged 44"-56" in length so they had to bend through the handle. Some were down to 40".
